  • What is the Grade of your Shea Butter?
All of our Shea Butter is Grade AAA Certified Fair Trade - Premium Grade A Shea Butter.
  • How to use Shea Butter?
Shea Butter can be used on our body, hair and face. Check out our blog post on how you can use our Unrefined Shea Butter here. ON BODY - You can apply Shea Butter directly onto your body. Scoop up the desired amount of Shea Butter, and then rub it onto your skin until it’s completely absorbed. ON HAIR - Raw Shea Butter can also be applied directly to your hair. If your hair is naturally curly or porous, consider using Shea Butter as a conditioner. Make sure your hair has absorbed most of the Shea Butter before rinsing and styling as usual. You can also use a small amount of Shea Butter as a leave-in conditioner. If your hair is naturally straight, thin, or fine, consider using Shea Butter on the ends of your hair. ON FACE - Shea Butter can be used as a stand-alone face moisturizer by breaking off a pea size portion, then rubbing it between your fingers to let it melt. Then you should gently massage it into your skin, starting with your cheeks and moving around your face. The reason that you should do it this way is because the natural heat from rubbing it between your fingers breaks down the Shea Butter into an oil form. This makes it easier to spread on your face, and the skin will absorb it faster. Keep in mind that this is a pure butter and a little goes a long way – just use enough that will get absorbed on your skin.
  • What is the shelf life of Shea Butter?
The typical shelf life of unrefined Shea Butter is about 2 years. Unrefined Shea Butter is 100% natural, with no preservatives added, hence one batch or harvest may give a slightly different Shea than another. With unrefined Shea Butter, there are no chemicals added so one can expect some differentiation in their butter from time to time.
  • Why does Shea Butter smell smoky?
Unrefined Shea Butter has a detectable smokey smell. If your Shea Butter smells smokey, you have the real thing - unrefined and pure! However if you leave your Shea Butter opened for a few days, the smoky smell may disappear. We recommend to keep your Shea Butter covered to prevent exposure to air and contaminants!
  • How to store your Shea Butter?
It should be stored in a cool, dry place. No matter the type of storage device, it’s best to store Shea Butter away from direct sunlight and heat. Some decide to store their Shea Butter in the fridge but this isn’t necessary. Keeping it in our package tightly sealed and away from water is good enough.
